It took four years for singer and songwriter Natalia Jimenez to follow up her successful self-titled debut album. The former lead vocalist of Spain’s La Quinta Estación took her time, wrote nearly 30 songs, honed them, and finally chose 11 for this set. While her guest appearance on Daddy Yankee’s hit «La Noche de Los Dos» may have hinted at an urban direction, «Quédate con Ella,» Creo en Mi’s first pre-release single, told a different story. The song was drenched in mariachi horns, tangy guitars, and contained an infectious pop melody. Subsequent singles such as the stirring ballad «Tu y Yo» and the opening title track, an anthemic paean to self-determination, are also included here. Taken together, they offer a portrait of the stylistic diversity that is the recording’s strong suit. Other highlights include the riveting, atmospheric pop of «Corazón Se Rompe» and the regal «Angeles Caido,» which travels from power ballad to dancefloor stomper seamlessly.
